Crows and Ravens – Mystery and Myth

October 11 @3-5pm

In ancient times, ravens would follow armies into battle. The ancient Irish and Tibetans believed crow sightings prophesied the future. Wildlife biologists have proven that, even in modern times, ravens will help wolf packs hunt. Join Rick de Yampert, author of “Crows and Ravens: Mystery, Myth, and Magic of Sacred Corvids,” for his talk on the ways of crows and ravens: how science has proven these intelligent birds remember human faces, why cultures over the centuries have believed them to be supernatural creatures, and how modern-day encounters have both spooked and fascinated humankind. Rick’s talk will include a PowerPoint slide show featuring his crow photography and Mr. Crow art. Participants will receive his handout “Five ways to forge communion – practical and magical – with crows,” and be entered into a drawing to win one of Rick’s Mr. Crow artworks. Cost is $20 cash and held at Hotel Cassadaga. To register call 386-228-2323.
